Additional insurances

Thanks to the additional insurances that it offers, Fortis Luxembourg-VIE S.A. guarantees that it can provide you with a policy tailored to your situation and to your needs.

Additional Accident insurance

  • The additional insurance against the risk of accident (ACCRAM) guarantees the payment of an additional sum insured if the insured person(s) is/are the victim of an accident involving death or total and permanent disability.

  • You may add this to all the products that guarantee a fixed capital in case of death.

  • The ACCRAM coverage includes road accidents, as well as accidents suffered in one's private and professional life.

  • The ACCRAM coverage terminates at the latest on the same date as the main insurance coverage, and it may not extend beyond the insurance year in which the insured person(s) reaches her sixtieth birthday for a woman, and his 65th birthday for a man.

  • It covers the insured person(s) worldwide, provided his/her normal place of residence is in a country of the European Community.

Additional Hospitalisation insurance

  • The additional insurance against the risk of hospitalisation (ACCRHO) may be added to all the combinations of main fixed capital life insurance coverages on condition that the insured person is at least 12 years of age.

  • The ACCRHO coverage provides for the payment of a daily lump sum for each day that the insured person is hospitalised as the result of illness, of an accident or of pregnancy. The daily allowance is limited always to 2% of the death benefit or of the survival benefit if this is higher, with a maximum limit of EUR 37.18 per day of Hospitalisation.

  • The ACCRHO coverage terminates on expiry of the main insurance coverage, but it may not extend beyond the age on expiry of 60 years (women) or 65 years (men).

  • It shall be cancelled in case of the surrender of or reduction in the coverage afforded under the main insurance coverage.

Additional Disability insurance

  • The additional insurance against the risk of disability (ACCRI) may be added to all combinations of insurance, except life annuities. Where the insured person is afflicted with a disability, it makes it easy to keep the main insurance coverage in force.

  • The ACCRI additional insurance includes disability caused by road accidents, accidents suffered in one's private and professional life, and any illness. Nevertheless, professional activities that pose an increased risk may be excluded from the inception of the policy or may be subject to additional premium. It is therefore essential to define clearly the professional activities of the applicant policyholder.

  • The additional insurance against the risk of disability covers all cases of financial or physiological disability, whether this disability is partial or total, temporary or permanent, and whether it is the consequence of an illness or accident, provided that the degree of physiological or financial disability reaches at least 25% and that the disability lasts for a minimum of 60 consecutive days (save in case of deferred effect).

  • The degree of disability is assessed based on physiological and financial criteria:

1/ Physiological disability is a reduction in the physical integrity of the insured person.

2/ Financial incapacity is a reduction in the earning capacity of the insured as the result of the physiological disability.

The criterion that provides entitlement to the highest degree of disability is the criterion that is retained for the purpose of calculating the benefits. Nevertheless, disability is deemed to be total when the degree of financial incapacity reaches at least 67%.
